I had to see the Orthopedic Surgeon today to get another Cortizone shot in my wrist. My doctor's concern is that it is too soon to come back for another shot and I'm going to need a small surgery.
As soon as I find a doctor in my plan to take care of me I'll see about the surgery.

Everyone is home
My wife and son landed this morning and we are finally home. My wife likes the paint job in the living room but now she wants to complete the entire apartment.
While I am aware we will have to do so I really don't want to do it. It goes against my lazy nature.
Sigh...

My wife and son fly back tonight. I hope they have a good flight. My wife was not happy about the flight out there, I hope the way back is better that they way there.

Easter Sunday
I'm sick. It's a combination of the weather and the dust that's kicking up in this place.
I'm not able to join our neighbors for dinner since I can't expose the baby to any germs. I'll just sit at home and watch TV. My family comes home soon.

Busy time
I spent the major portion of the day cleaning and putting together the furniture back where it goes.
I got an invitation for dinner from our neighbors upstairs. They just recently had a baby. We made arrangements to sit down for dinner tomorrow on Easter Sunday.

Baby dates
Our son is now 35 weeks old and I have not seen him for almost 2 weeks. I hear him in the background when I speak to my wife on the phone.

Almost done
I did quite a bit of vacuuming yesterday since there was so much debris from the scraped paint. I also cleaned up the television, DVD player, VCR and the cabinet for the equipment.
Today I focused on getting the dining room table into place as well as the loveseat, CD storage and the stereo.

Finally done
When I got home I did some final touches of painting, touch up. I then pulled off the tape and pulled up the paper. Now is the time to vacuum up the room and place back all the furniture.
Painting.......
I fell asleep so I didn't complete the painting as I had anticipated. I got up in the middle of the night and finished the trim and baseboards. I then went back to sleep.
Now when I get home from the office it's cleaning time.

Yet more painting
When I got home from the office I placed the tape on the inner sections for the baseboard and trim. I'm fairly certain 12 hours is sufficient to allow paint to dry.
After the tape was laid out I placed the first coat of white paint on the trim and baseboards. Because the trim and baseboards aren't flat surfaces, it requires more attention to paint.
It took longer than I'd like but I got it done. Now I just wait for it to dry and then proceed with 2nd coat and I'm done.

I hate painting, again
I woke up a little earlier that usual, about 3:45 a.m., instead of getting ready for work I decided to lay the the 2nd coat on the walls.
After that I got in the shower and left for the office.

I moved out the furniture from the walls today and laid out the kraft paper to protect the floors. I put the first coat on the walls and taped off the outer portion of the trim and baseboards.

Sunday work
I did not paint today but I did get books on the bookshelf and the couch and computer into place.
That gets half of my room painted and set up. I started moving all the things from the other end into place so I can finish painting.
Not as many things to get out of place: television, stereo, loveseat and dining room table and chairs.
In between removing and setting up I took a walk to the supermarket and regrouped on supplies.

Pitfalls
I watched a documentary on Mario Brava. A director who did quite a few Italian horrow movies one of which was Black Sabbath.
It was a trilogy and one of them totally freaked me out as a kid. I saw quite a few of his movies over the years without even knowing it.
Anyways, that distracted me long enough to accomplish little of what I really wanted to do.

Doh!!!
I totally forgot about the baseboards so I had to tape off the walls and preapre to paint them. I got the first coat done. Hoepfully I'll get the 2nd coat done shortly.
Painting day 4
I got up early this morning and completed the 2nd coat of the trim. Hopefully I'll be able to start moving stuff back before I can start working on the other half of the room.

Painting day 3
I completed the 2nd coat of the walls and I completed the first coats of the trim but I think I won't get much of this done until tomorrow.
Baby dates
Our son is 34 weeks today. I haven't heard him in a couple of days. I'm actually having trouble sleeping without my wife and son here.
I get up every 2 or 3 hours or so.

Partial pt2
I completed the walls with the window and the bookshelves. I only got one coat completed, but I'm kinda limited to evening hours right now, between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. and since I have to wait several hours between coats I'm kinda limited.
Harumph....it looks like it's gonna take me some time. I only got 1 coat completed

Partial done
I got the ceiling painted. It took a little longer but I got it done. 2 coats down 14 more to go.
So it begins
My superiors spoke to me about the amount of time I've taken and how i'm letting work slip by.
Since we've been bought back from the public company we were in, things have changed.
We had to do more work with less manpower, and I'm not keeping up. I can't really tell them that I'm preparing my resume to relocate to Florida and we're planning to move ASAP.

Paints
I chose Behr paint since that's the main paint option at Home Depot. I went with Parisian Taupe for the ceilings and walls and White Luxury for the trim and baseboards.
Paint job
I went to Home Depot and picked up the paint for the living room, I bought way too much paint but I rather have more than not enough. I planned on painting from top to bottom but I have to rethink this. I'll have to do the ceiling first and then work my way around because of all the stuff we have in the living room and it won't sit anywhere else.
Monday, March 14, 2005
Work begins
I started moving furniture away from the walls and I had the building Super install window guards. That took up most of the day. I haven't even picked up paint yet.
Home again
I finally get home and I'm looking at all the work I have to do. I'm painting the living room. It's a small place but we have alot of stuff and I have to move things around.
My wife is staying here for another 2 weeks but I need to go back to work.

The party
I'm not sure if there were 50 people over but I met quite a bit of my wife's family members. It went well, they were all very nice. I met several of them at our wedding, mostly her aunts and uncles. Really nice folks.
I kinda feel a little behind on the curve because most of these folks have 3 or 4 kids before they're 30 and here I am at 40 with one child.

On display
My wife's mom has invited some family members over to meet us and from what I understand there are quite a few of them. She's expecting about 50 people to come over.

Scenic
I thought things would be different
We went to a little hole in the wall place to eat, my mother-in-law, my wife with our son and me. I ordered three sandwiches, fries and onion rings.
I sat and waited patiently. Other customers came in and placed their orders. I sat and waited patiently as I watched these other people pick up their orders and move on.
The girl who took our order also took several orders, filled the orders of others and kept going on.
After about 20 minutes I got tired of it and walked up to the counter and asked what was going on. They told me they were waiting for the fries and rings to come up. I asked why the fries and rings came up for everyone else but they were waiting for mine to come up.
They apologized profusely and hurried up on the fries and rings. I got my order within a few minutes and I was trying my best not to freak out and yell at them.
I thought the incompetence was something found here but I guess I'm wrong.

Our flight
Our flight to Utah was handled well by our son. My wife on the other hand did not handle it so well.
It looks to me like she isn't dealing terribly well with the stress of raising a child. She was seated in the middle seat and the man that had the window seat was unwilling to let her to have the window seat.
She did not like having the man so close to her, especially with the closeness of the seats.
I switched seats with my wife and that made the flight better. I was able to get some sleep while she had a much more peaceful flight from there on out.
My wife's sister picked us up and brought us to their mother's home. It was a short car ride, about 1/2 hour or so and we couldn't see much of the area because it was night out so I can't attest to the majestic beauty of the mountains.
I'll see what I can do later.

Waiting for the flight
We're in the middle of JetBlue's dining seating taking advantage of their wireless access. Our flight is ontime.
Flying out
Tonight we fly out to Utah. It's our son's third flight, but this one will be almost 6 hours long. We fly out at 9:00 p.m. from JFK International.

Pitstop
We stopped by a hospital to see a friend who gave birth to a girl last night. We didn't stay long since we have to prepare to leave for Utah
A wandering thought
I have the star trek book: Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise. Signed by Mr. Scott himself, James Doohan.
It's in perfect condition and the best price I can get for it is no better than $20.00. That's out of the question.

Very cold morning.
I took the railroad into the office today.
I was in my car this morning warming up my car and I turned on the radio. All I was hearing were reports of road closings and accidents that were occurring. After hearing that I figured trains better than a crash.

Possible problem - different problem
It appears that she has sprained the muscles of her pelvic area. She's pretty much in good shape.
The real danger was the way home, our car was stuck twice in the ice that was the city streets.
I just spun our wheels for 20 minutes or so and eventually we moved since we were in the middle of a busy intersection and I couldn't get out to push. After a little of spinning my wheels in forward and falling back in reverse and repeating for what seemed like an eternity, I started moving forward again.
My main crux was to make sure I didn't stop moving. I went through red lights and stop signs and prayed at the large sections of traffic but we managed to get home.
I was exhausted by the tension that gripped me throughout the ride.

Possible problem
I took my wife to the doctor yesterday because she felt sharp pains and thought maybe she damaged her cesarean incision. It seems that those cuts take many months to heal.
To make matters worse we are driving in the middle of a snow storm and on the way there we slid a couple of times.

Doggone tired
I'm sitting in front of the TV and I'm exhausted. I'm falling asleep and can't keep my eyes open.
I got some laundry done when I got in from work and the folding was the longest thing I did.
I have to sleep because I was so tired.

Lazy Sunday
Even though we're lazy, we went out today, picked up some clothes for a neighbor who's having a baby this week, got some things at the drugstore and we did grocery shopping.
Ugh... We also did some laundry today too.

Saturday
My wife was very tired for the last couple of days. I just took care of our son as she slept for much of the day.
My son and I played and he watched a bunch of shows on Boomerang Channel. It was a nice day for us.

I hate driving sometimes
We headed out for a Rugby match in the Rockaways. NYFD vs. NYPD. Our friend plays on the NYPD side.
We got lost and had to give it up. We ended up eating lunch at Wendy's and coming home.

Homeward bound, part 2
We're at the airport and we were supposed to leave right now and our plane hasn't even reached the airport yet.
I suspect that delays are the norm at airports. I have only flown 12 times (that's including the round trip) in the last 20 years and everytime I can recall the plane was delayed.
The long lines at security were ridiculous, people would allow others to jump in ahead because they were running late, as if those of us on the lines were in anticipation of the buttheads and gave ourselves plenty of time.
All in all we were on line for security for over an hour.

Homeward bound
On the way to the airport and wouldn't you know it, we're heading home and it's another bright sunny day.
Take the long way home.
We got up early in preparation for our flight home.
We found out there was about 4 inches of snow overnight in NYC, that shouldn't affect us too badly since we took off on Thursday night and there was about 6 inches on the ground.
