Crush Time

I have an entire bid to put together for tomorrow. It's alot of masonry but the drawings were developed by Architects that have a habit of making a large number of details which makes you look through 50 or 60 drawings with multiple details. It's going to take all day for this.

At the Zoo

Our son really got a kick out fo the Seals at the zoo. He liked the monkey house the most but it was too dark in there.

 

Not at the zoo

Today we went to the Aquarium. It was a hot day but because we're off the ocean there was a nice breeze. My son got a great kick out of watching the fish.

He really like the colorful salt water fish. When he's old enough to watch Finding Nemo he'll point them out.

During the sea lion training session our son was cranky so my wife had to breastfeed him. Our son missed the entire show.

We bought him an Otter sqeaky toy because he was getting such a kick out of it.

Don't call Child Services

Looks like my son has had a little too much to drink. Hehehe. That red-eye remover makes everyone look that way. The first quick flash that gets rid of the red-eye really gets you unaware.


 

At the Zoo

We left for the Bronx Zoo this morning after cancelling an outing to a family friend. They forgot we were coming so we didn't want to impose.

We arrived at the zoo at 11:30 a.m. and it was packed to the gills. The parking at the zoo had reached maximum capacity.

There were so many people there we couldn't see much of the creatures and our son was asleep when we arrived.

When our son awoke, he did get to see the monkeys and the sea lions. He enjoyed that immensely.

We left after walking what seemed like miles.

At the Zoo

Today we headed to the Queens Zoo. When we got there our son was asleep, so we looked around and had a coffee while we waited for him to wake up.

Once he did, his favorite things were petting the Llama, watching the ducks and looking at the Prairie Dogs jump in and out of their holes.

After we left the zoo, my wife took our son on a Carousel ride, we got a caricature picture of him made and then came home.

It's been a long day!

We had a bid in today but we didn't get it. We were about 1.3 million over the lowest bidder.

I guess they didn't see what we saw.

Today he hits 44 weeks.

More bidding

I got another set of bid documents to prepare a number. Unfortunately the bid is due Tuesday. That wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that Monday is a holiday.

Our 2nd bid was postponed. It turns out we were the only bidder on the job and you need to have two to dance.

We didn't get the first bid, we came in 2nd. The lowest bidder is about 700K lower than we were.

Maybe they'll give the job back. I think they have 3 days to change their minds.

We have 2 bids going in today, one is a masonry restoration job and the other is a floor tile job. We anticipate good numbers on each, looking at the firms that pulled the drawings and specs on those jobs.

We have a bid going in on a flooring job today. It's a small job and a lot of bidders. Things don't look good on this one, but we should be competitive.

Today our son is 43 weeks old. Ugh...when do we stop counting in weeks?

Star Wars - Ep III

I'm trying to find out a good time I can drop off our son with my sister so we can see the last Star Wars movie. I don't want to wait until it comes to DVD.

Mom's B'day

My mother-in-law had her birthday today. We sent her an order of flowers from her grandson and a seperate bouquet from us. She will receive ours tomorrow but she really loved the ones from her grandson.

My next bid in is Thursday the 19th. It's a medium sized job that's mostly asbestos abatement and tile flooring.

Chronologically our son is 10 months old. His one year birthday quickly comes upon us.

I'm also working on another job that's due Tuesday the 24th. I'll be finalizing Thursday's bid just minutes before it's opened.

Eeeks

We were due to go out to a friend's home for dinner but we were all very sick so we had to reschedule.

Our son gave us some mutated form of a chest cold.

Slow day

We took our son out to a nice little Irish pub we enjoy having brunch at. He was a bit loud but he was great.

Strangers love him.

Baby Dates

Today he's 42 weeks. He doesn't sleep the night entirely anymore. He wakes up quite often looking for a feeding. Maybe we're not giving him enough food throughout the day.

Our doctor says he's fine.

We won today's bid. It's a quick job that will last less than a year so we'll be running on this one soon I'm guessing.

Got numbers done on the Thursday bid, now finishing up Friday's bid. Thursday's bid mostly roof and windows too.

Friday's bid is a lot of roof, steel and masonry. Looks like a nice job.

I'm now working on the bid for Thursday. I'm mostly done since I put a lot of numbers together when it was due on Friday.

Car troubles

I need a new regulator arm, I was with the mechanic when he opened up the door and it was mangled.

They won't be able to get the arm until tomorrow but at least he closed the window so no one will just walk right into my car at night.

More car woes

On the way to the office this morning my window dropped out of track. Wonderful.

Mother's day

We had a nice day and went out for dinner at my wife's favorite seafood restaurant. She wanted a lobster and was brought a lobster tail instead, they rushed the lobster for her but she still was bothered by it.

In the end she got into an argument with her sister, and I don't really get it but I just shut my mouth and let her roll.

In the end she pushed me into talking so I kind of blew my stack.

Saturday

We had a nice day, spent a little too much money on food and toys but we had a good time. It's the day before Mother's Day.

Work at home.

I took the drawings and specifications home for the bid. It's mostly windows work so I'm not so worried. A little roofing too.

I want to get this over and done with so I can spend a good Mother's Day with my wife.

Fight night.

My sister-in-law had her fight tonight and she lost the fight.

She's somewhat disappointed since it was the first time my wife was able to watch one of her fights.

I can't watch the fight. Watching men beat each other to a bloody pulp is one thing but watching women, a woman I know no less, beat each other senseless....that's too much for me.

Hot oil wrestling is one thing but physical damage that can result in brain damage, that's something totally different.

Today he's 41 weeks old.

It's getting to the point that he's very independant.

Reprieve

My bid was postponed to next Thursday the 12th. Why do I have a bad feeling about this?

But now I can concentrate on Monday's bid.

Slow work

With my first bid coming up tomorrow morning , I have a strong feeling I'm not going to make the numbers on time. I'm still only a few drawings in and we're bidding as the General Contractor so I have to take everything into consideration.

Greaaat

My first bid is due on Friday the 6th, next one Monday the 9th.

New profession

I am now performing take-offs for our company. There is a large number of public works projects that must be bid out in the next month.

The city must bid them all out in order to get the costs placed into the budget.

No pressure considering I have little experience doing this. I just have to get my quantities in order for the work and the bosses will sit with me and assign quantities.

Fight Club

My sister-in-law has a Muay Thai fight on Friday in the city so she flew in from Utah this morning. She'll be able to join us and celebrate my wife's first Mother's Day.

Mother's day prep

The present I ordered for my wife on behalf of my son for Mother's Day arrived today. I ordered a book for myself and told my wife to expect it so she wouldn't get suspicious and what does Amazon do?

They send it in two different shipments. Great!!!

Luckily, my wife totally trusts me.

More car woes

I had to have my car serviced yet once more. The driver's side window fell out.

It's just one thing after another.

Church services today was stressful. Our son is very cranky and we had to step out of the service a couple of times.
