Procrastination

We were supposed to go pick up a few things before the big party we're attending Saturday. I need a blue shirt and tie. I had a blue shirt but I threw it away because I had it for too long and it developed quite a few stains.

We didn't go today because I thought there would be heavy rains from the remnants of Katrina. It was cloudy but we never got the rain. We'll be going tomorrow.

Confusion

On the radio talk shows there are complaints about the population that stayed behind in New Orleans after the call for evacuation was given.

I think that is stands to reason that some have no means to leave, wheather they can't afford to leave, have no vehicles, or do not have the medical supplies to leave. There are many reasons why they couldn't leave.

It just doesn't make any sense to assume they all wanted to stay there. Sure there are a few bad eggs that see opportunity but not everyone is like that.

Hurricane Katrina

It's hard to imaagine the level of devestation that has occurred in New Orleans. We heard the levee broke and the waters started flowing in but you never have the reality set in until you see the images of houses underwater all the way up to the roof.

This is not a small occurance. This is a large scale natural disaster. Our government will have to do something before there is third world conditions all over there.

Hurricane watch

There has been a report on the radio mentioning the great Fats Domino is missing in New Orleans. Let's hope he's okay.

Another thing

We had our son's blood taken today. They are testing for lead levels in his blood. They took out 2 vials and he was not happy. He had to be held down for a little bit but he calmed down after a bit.

My wife hates to see our son in pain of any sort. He'll get used to getting needles. It's something he will be having done often.

Lazy Sunday....revisited

Today I didn't do a damn thing. We went to the supermarket for groceries and that's all. I spent the day playing with our son and watching the Monk marathon on USA Network.

Now that's a day off.

Sunday Movie

I watched bubba Ho-Tep today. Bruce Campbell was mint as Elvis Presley, resident of a Texas nursing home. They just think he's an impersonator who thinks he's Elvis. The late Ozzie Davis plays a man who thinks he's Ex-President John F. Kennedy.

If that wasn't weird enough, they're fighting an Egyptian mummy who's slowly killing all the patients by sucking their souls out of their assholes.

I know it sounds strange but it's definitely worth watching.

Not much doing

We had a breakfast appointment with a friend today. we didn't get home until 12:30 in the afternoon. We sat in the luncheonette for what seemed forever, it's hard to have a quiet conversation when everyone at the table has a baby to watch.

we made a few stops and walked home. Later in the day we took a quick car ride to Babies R Us in the afternoon. That's unusual for me since I hate driving in the afternoon on weekends. I'm a morning guy.

We watched The Ring 2 after dinner. It was okay. It seemed as if they went to great pains to tie up loose ends. Sissy Spacek as the Evil TV Child's mother was unsurprising. She permeated the film with her Carrie-like creepiness.

Done

Finally I have completed the Star Trek: Original Series DVD sets. I was missing season three but it came today from Amazon. I was nervous that it would go out of ciruculation and I'd end up paying a fortune for it later.

I also ordered the Classical Baby DVD set, it's an HBO series. Actually 3 different episodes that our son really enjoyed and it's set to be released next week so I pre-ordered and they should be coming next Thursday.

Keep in mind I know absolutely nothing about the sport but I'm guessing this is bad. I usally see scores of 1 - 2, 3 - 2, low numbers.

To hit 50 they must have done alot of running around.

Easy day out

We took our son to the Queens Zoo today to see the North American animals in the petting zoo. He enjoyed himself today. We took a quick walk through the main zoo. Our son likes the birds. It wasn't too hot but it was very humid.

We had a nice day but I was worn out from the humidity and the heat that built up from the day.

Movie night

We watched Constantine with Keanu Reeves. Based on the Hellblazer comics, I was somewhat annoyed by Reeves performance, it was lackluster.

He wasn't trying hard.

Uh oh

I just learned we were invited to a house-warming party for a friend for today. I didn't get a good look at the invitiation until today. I have to call them and let them know we didn't blow off their party.

birthday party

We had a birthday party to go to, i had to cancel attenfdig a friend's homewarming party but it happens. It was a hot day out but not a scorcher as we have experienced in the last couple of weeks.

We had to hit seveal highways to get to the party but each one was worse than the next.

We got there about ten minutes too late and the house was hotter than outside because the guests were cooking for the party.

The invitiation called for a 2 hour party and we were 10 minutes late and stil nothing was happening.

I spent much of my time there sweating and sweating and sweating.

After two hours of waiting and all we saw was a video of the baby's birth. There was more to come but I was so hot and sweaty that we had to leave.

I was also worried about our son. He was sweating alot as well, he also had diarhhea for several days so I was worried that he would get dehydrated from all this.

I had to beg off the rest of the party and leave. I was in obvious discomfort.

Birthday gift

We drove out to Babie r Us to pick up a birthday gift for the 1 year old's party we are going to tonight. While we were there we decided to pick up a few things we need for the baby.

$200.00 later we are walking out the door ready to go home.

Dress fight

My wife and I had a little fight over the dress she picked up over the weekend. She wants to pick up another dress that's the right color. I'm angry because she tells me she got a great deal on this dress but now she wants another one.

Nevermind the fact that she can't return this dress because of the deal she got, she wants to replace it with another dress that she'll only wear once.

Baby dates

Our son is now 13 months old. I not going to go by weeks anymore.

Office meeting.

We had a big office meeting today. The basic gist of the meeting is we have to watch our costs and push hard to get overdue payments from the companies that owe us money.

Dress Shopping

Today we picked up a dress for my wife. We have a party to attend which requires a formal dress of a blue variant. We think it's purple but we think it will do.

We couldn't get in touch with the hostess of the party before we can buy it to confirm the color but we figured it's better to have it than not.

After a little time home we got in touch with the hostess who wasn't happy about the color but I suspect she'll get over it.

Haircut

My wife got our son't hair cut today. It's his first one. I was worried that his fidgeting might get him injusred but my wife says he was very well behaved.

I would expect the civil suit to lose ground after this ruling. However due to the love of litigation I doubt that will happen.

Maybe people should be required to undergo a complete psychiatric evaluation before attempting anything: video games, board games, card games, music, movies, television, reading, driving, grocery shopping, parenthood, etc.

Maybe I'm being a bit simplistic but to assume that any one thing is the cause for someone's psychotic endeavors sounds a bit hard for me to swallow.

Unless they're talking about psychotropic drugs.

Ride to the aquarium

We took a ride to the NY Aquarium today. It was a horror show. We almost got into an accident with a cab driver on the Van Wyck Expressway.

I was so frazzled by that brush that I missed the exit to the Belt Parkway. After I made the wrong turn onto the JFK Expressway and a short trip through the airport I managed to make it onto the Belt Parkway.

There were crazy folks all over the road. Zipping in and out at high speeds almost getting in accidents each time. I was just getting aggravated time and time again.

We made it to the Aquarium and we were hungry because we figured on having breakfast there. We were waiting at the cafeteria for about 10 minutes only to learn that they served breakfast only to employees.

When I asked the manager why no one said anything to us since we were waiting on line, I received a blank stare and a sorry. Big Whoop!

We got to the Aquarium around 10:30 a.m. We left it at about 12:30 p.m. Today was not a good day for us. at least our son enjoyed himself with the colorful salt water fish.

Year one

Our son got his first year round of shots. We expected 3 needles but he only got 2. He did not like it one bit. He was hyperventilating a little bit.

We now have to keep a lookout for side effects.

Bible study night

My wife has her monthly bible study class. Soon it will be weekly. I don't know when but I'll be required to attend as well since I'll be her sponser.

It's another scorcher out there. Thankfully we have the new A/C. It's an energy saver model so I'm looking forward to see if we'll notice any savings in our electricity bills.

Real relief

It was really hot in the apartment until the new A/C was installed. My wife and I had a HUGE argument about the A/C because she thought I really didn't care about the contitions she and our son were livijng in.

I guess she figured that bcause I was in the house only 10 or so hours out of the day I didn't think it was important (it seems she didn't take weekends into account).

Relief

I went to a PC Richards and paid 4300.00 via credit card for the air conditioner and $200.00 cash for a delivery of the air conditinoer tonight as well as installation of the new air conditioner and removal of the existing air conditioner.

At least I can get my wife off my back.

Bad day

Today my wife and I had a huge fight because our air conditioner for the living room went out on the fritz. She spent several minutes to explain to me that it's hot as hell out and our son is suffering but she didnt't spend one minute calling any of the companies to find out about BTU capacity, delviery availabilty or installation opitions.

She left it all up to me but she's not happly with my solution of having the deilivery and installation by next week. That's the best I can do at $300.00

First day back

My first day back to work after my wife's hospital incidence and I'm lucky that my company is backing me and paying me even though I don't have any days left.

They have always been very supporting in this respect.
